About this place
At Soba・Udon Minamoto, the dashi served with the noodles deserves as much attention as the noodle dishes themselves—and rice bowls make a pleasing accompaniment. One diner who ordered tanuki udon with a mini egg rice bowl praised the udon broth and said the rice bowl also made an impression. Another visitor chose kitsune udon, noting that the pieces of fried tofu were cut into easy-to-eat portions and had soaked up the dashi. The noodles remain the focus, while an egg rice bowl gives you a simple way to round out the meal.
There is plenty of choice among the hot noodle dishes, including ankake, keiran and torinanba. A diner who tried ankake udon recalled that its thickened broth had just the right consistency, while the egg rice bowl in the set had a gentle sweetness. Another comment praised the mild dashi in torinanba soba. The toppings and preparation offer different ways to choose between bowls. For a cold noodle dish, tempura zaru is available with soba, udon or somen. One diner found the fine, firm soba a good match for the strong dipping sauce, and singled out the prawn among the tempura. On another occasion, a diner chose curry soba with mixed rice on the side. Mixed rice can also be ordered separately if you would like something with your noodles.
For a longer evening meal, you can add small dishes and drinks. Options include natto, deep-fried aubergine in dashi, duck breast and assorted tempura. Drinks include sake and beer, as well as red and white wines described as pairing well with soba. The red wine is listed by the glass, half-bottle and full bottle, so you can shape the meal around noodles and small plates and choose a drink to suit your pace. The range lends itself to a lunch of noodles with a small rice bowl or an evening of drinks and dishes. Dine-in and takeaway are both available, making the restaurant an option for lunch or dinner.
